Dedicated Blood Perfusion sensors

A choice of sensor types are available to suit a wide range of blood perfusion monitoring applications, as illustrated below.

  Surface sensors
For microvascular blood perfusion monitoring from the surface of skin and organs. These sensors comprise a black plastic body providing right-angled blood perfusion monitoring. Surface sensors can be secured to skin using our double-sided adhesive rings (see Accessories, below). Since our surface sensors do not contain metallic components they are entirely MRI compatible.

MSP100XP
Standard surface sensor
These robust and easy-to-handle sensors are ideal for measurements of cutaneous blood perfusion anywhere on the skin surface.

MSP110XP
Digit surface sensor
Specifically developed for measuring cutaneous blood perfusion in the digits, the curved geometry of these sensors make them ideal for studying conditions such as Raynaud's disease.

MSP300XP
Miniature surface sensor (suturable)
Small and lightweight, suitable for non-invasive skin monitoring and for semi-invasive monitoring from muscle and internal organ surfaces. Tissue attachment via double-sided adhesive rings (below); alternatively this sensor can be sutured onto the tissue.

MSP310XP
Miniature surface sensor (non-suturable)
Small and lightweight, suitable for non-invasive skin monitoring and for semi-invasive monitoring from muscle and internal organ surfaces. Tissue attachment via double-sided adhesive rings (below).

  Needle sensors
For invasive or non-invasive tissue blood perfusion monitoring in difficult to access tissue regions. These sensors utilise medical grade stainless steel.

MNP100XP
Standard needle sensor
For microvascular blood perfusion measurements in relatively inaccessible areas with limited clearance. Typically positioned using an external clamp.

Approx. 19 gauge surgical steel shaft. Custom shaft lengths available to order.

MNP110XP
Fine needle sensor
This micro-needle sensor has been developed for minimal tissue trauma during invasive insertion and is frequently used for measuring microvascular blood perfusion within, muscle, tumors, internal organs and brain tissues.

Approx. 25 gauge surgical steel shaft. Custom shaft lengths available to order.

  Specialised sensors/Accessories

MNP150XP
Bent tip needle sensor
An angled sensor tip facilitates blood perfusion measurements in specialist applications such as gingiva and nasal mucosa. Typically positioned using an external clamp.

Approx. 19 gauge surgical steel shaft. Custom shaft lengths and configurations available to order.

MSF100XP
Single-fibre implantable sensor
This light and flexible sensor consists of a 0.5mm diameter polymethyl methacrylate (plastic) fibre with a standard length of 30cm. Particularly useful for chronic implantation, the MSF100XP can be directly inserted into tissue using a standard 22G i.d. cannula. The extra light coupling bead minimizes the total weight of the implanted sensor. Flow measurements are made by attaching the MSF Driver (MSFD XP - below).

MSFD XP
Dedicated connecting adapter for the MSF100XP  implantable sensor
The MSF Driver is a precision-machined coupling system designed to interface the MSF100XP sensor with the monitor. The MSF100XP sensor coupling bead is locked into position by a simple turn of the MSF Driver head.

Manufactured from specialist polymer and containing no metallic parts, the MSF Driver is fully MRI compatible.

MH-05 / MH-10
Miniature holders for secure attachment of MNP100XP needle sensor
These miniature plastic holders are specially designed for use with a shortened version of the MNP100XP needle sensor for the measurement of local cerebral cortex perfusion in models of stroke (e.g. MCAO). The holders can be directly attached to bone (skull) using cyanoacrylate or rapid-setting epoxy glues and provide a very secure hold for the sensor.

MSP140AR
Double-sided adhesive rings for MSP300 surface sensors
These specialist double-sided adhesive rings provide a practical solution to securely attaching the MSP300 surface sensor types to dry skin or internal organ surfaces.

CAL KIT
Calibration kit for perfusion sensors
A Motility Standard comprising a solution of microspheres at a precisely controlled concentration and a probe positioning device together ensure highly reproducible perfusion sensor calibration (required where sensors cannot be supplied pre-calibrated).
