A brief introduction to OxyData™ software

The options available to the life scientist for acquiring real-time data from laboratory equipment are many and varied.  The software supporting these platforms can be costly and typically boasts features and functions, many of which go unused.

OxyData™ software, developed in-house, is an inexpensive, 'no-nonsense' data recording solution intended specifically for users of our OxyLite™ and OxyFlo™ platforms.

It supports the recording of oxygen, temperature, or blood flow readings in real-time, directly to a PC. There is no additional hardware device involved; OxyData™ consists of PC software and a proprietary serial data cable to link monitor and PC.

How does it work?

  • Install the OxyData™ software
  • Connect the proprietary serial data cable to the dedicated port at the rear of the monitor and to an available USB port on the PC
  • Launch the software from the desktop icon
  • Click 'Start' and define a folder location and filename to begin recording

Conveniently, the software automatically detects the monitor and connected sensors and probes in use. Data from up to 2 monitors and a total of 8 sensors / probes can be displayed and recorded simultaneously.

The user interface displays alphanumerical values for each sensor and probe, and records these into a file format compatible with the freely available LabChart™ Reader

LabChart® Reader is an implementation of the popular and highly acclaimed LabChart™ Pro physiological data recording and analysis software platform by ADInstruments. LabChart™ Reader displays each parameter recorded by OxyData™ as an individual trace, and supports the exportation of data segments into Excel® / CSV formats for further analysis or processing.

Requirements

OxyData™ software is compatible with Windows® 10 and Windows® 11 and communicates via a dedicated serial output port, now a standard feature at the rear of all OxyLite™ and OxyFlo™ monitors*.

A proprietary serial-to-USB data cable is required to connect each monitor to the PC. Therefore one free USB port is required at the PC end, per monitor connected.

* Applies to monitors manufactured since September 2024. Monitors delivered prior to September 2024 can optionally be retrofitted at our UK service centre.
